1 Introduction

Jelsa Hotell (we) are committed to ensuring that you have confidence in us and how we handle your personal data. In this privacy policy, we therefore explain why we collect information about you, how we use this information, and how we protect your privacy.

Personal data refers to information and assessments that can be linked to an identifiable individual. This may include, for example, names and contact information, purchase history, or information about interests.

The use of personal data must comply with the Personal Data Act. As the data controller, we will ensure that we use your personal data in accordance with the rules of the law.

2 What personal data do we have about you?

Depending on what information you provide to us, how you use our services, and what permissions you grant us, we hold the following information about you:

  • Information about you: Information you provide when you contact us through forms on the website, such as name, address, phone number, and email address. You may choose to provide us with more information about yourself, such as gender.
  • Communication: Information you provide when you contact our customer service center, such as emails sent between us.
  • Information about website usage: Information we receive when you use our website, such as the type of device you have (e.g., mobile or PC), IP address, which pages you visit, and which features you use there.
  • Information from partners: Information we receive from our partners and/or service providers.
  • Profiling information: Information we store automatically based on the other information (mentioned above) we have about you, such as your preferences, interests, and which demographic groups you belong to, unless you have objected to this.

3 What do we use personal data for?

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  1. Provide website: We use information to adapt our website and app to the technical equipment you use. We may also use the information to tailor the content on our website to what we believe you are interested in.
  2. Customer service: We store information that you provide and receive if you are in contact with us, in order to provide service and manage your customer relationship.
  3. Statistics: We collect statistics to improve and further develop our products and services. As far as possible, we do this using anonymous information, without knowing that the information is linked specifically to you.
  4. Contact form: Information sent through the contact form on our website is stored in order to respond to your inquiry.
  5. Marketing: We may use your contact information (such as phone number and email address) to send you recommendations and information about our products. We may use information to make recommendations and information as relevant as possible for you, unless you have opted out of this. If you wish, we will also send you recommendations and information about our partners' products and services.

The legal basis for purposes 1, 3 and 4 is our interest in being able to offer, further develop, and market our services. The legal basis for purpose 2 is to fulfill our contract with you. The legal basis for purpose 5 can also be your consent, if you have provided this to us. It may be necessary for sending you marketing.

4 Who do we share personal data with?

We share personal data with companies that provide technical and administrative services to us, such as IT providers. We have agreements with these parties to ensure your privacy. We may disclose information in individual cases, for example to public authorities, if there is a suspicion of a criminal offense. Otherwise, we may share anonymized information with partners for purposes such as market analysis and service development.

5 How long do we store personal data?

We store information about you only for as long as it is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected, or as we are required to store the information. The information will be deleted or anonymized when it is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose. Below is an overview of how long we store your information:

  • Information about you: If you have a customer account with us, we will delete your information if you wish when you terminate the customer relationship. We delete the information automatically after three years.
  • Information about website usage: We store information about your use of our websites for up to 14 months.
  • Information from forms on the website: Information from forms is stored in the provider's (Webflow) encrypted databases on AWS servers in the USA. Information is transferred in encrypted form from the IP address to the servers via HTTPS. The sender's IP address is only stored temporarily for 24 hours as a security measure against spam. A copy of the form is sent to our email address and is stored there as well. You can request the deletion of forms on the server and in our email archive by contacting us.
  • Information from partners: We store any information from partners for as long as you have consented, or until it is automatically deleted. We will delete information from email correspondence or contact forms on the website if you request it.
  • Communication: We store communication with our customers for three years, unless we need to store it for longer, for example in connection with complaints or claims.  

6 Your rights

You may have the right to ask us to:

  • Provide you with further information about how we handle your personal data.
  • Provide you with a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Update your personal information.
  • Delete information that we no longer have a basis for storing.
  • Restrict or stop the processing of your data.
  • Object to automated individual decision-making, including profiling.
  • Receive information you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format or, where technically feasible, ask us to transfer this to another company.
  • Withdraw any consent you have given us.

Please be aware that there are limitations to these rights. Feel free to contact us if you would like more information about this. If you believe that we are processing personal data in violation of the Personal Data Act, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet). Before doing so, we would appreciate it if you contacted us so that we can answer your questions or clear up any misunderstandings.

We use cookies on our websites to ensure website functionality, analyze web traffic, and see which areas of our site you have visited. Please read our Cookie Policy below for more information.

Cookie policy

We use cookies on this site to improve content and the user experience. We do this via the web analytics tool Google Analytics. No personal information about visitors to the website is stored. Google Analytics uses cookies (small text files that the website stores on the user's computer), which register the user's IP address and provide information about the individual user's movements online. Examples of what the statistics tell us include: how many people visit different pages, how long the visit lasts, which websites users come from, and which browsers are used. None of the cookies allow us to link information about your use of the website to you as an individual. Data linked to cookies is automatically deleted 14 months after registration. You can manage the use of cookies yourself. The information collected by Google Analytics is stored on Google's servers in the USA. Received information is subject to Google's privacy policy.

8 Changes to the privacy policy

We may update our privacy policy from time to time. You will be notified of any significant changes. You can always find the latest version of our privacy policy on our website.
